Rules Corner - Test your Knowledge

Our rules section is back and it's regularity will depend on the uptake of Members answering so have a go at the scenario below to see if you know the correct ruling (no Googling or rules.ai!). The answer will be revealed in our next edition.

Scenario

David and Jeff are playing a Stableford on a Tuesday morning at Wombat Hills GC. In between the 9th and 10th holes, David asks Jeff if he can try his putter on the nearby practice green whilst they wait for the group ahead to move out of the way. Jeff lends David his putter, David hits two short putts, picks up the golf balls, hands Jeff back his putter and they proceed to the tee. Andrew, who was on the green at the time, sees this and asks the Committee if that is okay.  What is the ruling?

Transition from Golflink to Golf Australia Connect

Thank you to all members for your patience as we navigate the transition away from Golf Link to the new Golf Australia Connect platform.
 
Our MiClub Golf Site is being upgraded today to integrate with Golf Connect, and information provided by GA and MiClub indicates that handicapping will become available earlier than expected and now could be as early as Tuesday 7 October.
 
New Website & App
Today is the official launch day for GOLF.com.au and the Golf Australia CONNECT platform

What to do now 
1. Set up your Golf ID account 
Visit golf.com.au/sign-up   

• Enter your Golf ID (your old GOLF Link number) 

• Verify your email 

• Create a password and confirm your profile to activate your account 

2. Download the Golf Australia Official App 
Search for Golf Australia Official App in your app store (iOS and Android supported)

Sea View Crunch & Sip

Congratulations to our younger juniors who played in the Sea View Crunch and Sip event on Sunday. Kaela Wilson finished tied first in the 9 hole stableford competition with 25 points whilst Asher Loong finished first in the 9 hole modified stroke competition with 44 off the stick.

How to get involved:

WAGC Amateur Open - Sunday 12 October

Important Update:
Entries to be emailed to golfshop@wagolfclub.com.au - MiTournament unavailable due to Golf Connect transition. 

Entries are still available in the WAGC Amateur Open for any male or female golfer with a handicap of 10.0 or less.  This 36 hole stroke event is a Golf WA male ranking event and more information can be found here.

Soldiers Cup - Sunday 19 October

The 2025 Soldiers Cup is now open for entries to any person who has served in any of the Armed Forces, including National Service and Citizen Military Forces and their Navy and Air Force counterparts.  The Soldiers Cup is an annual event that has been played every year since 1927 (except for the years of World War 2).  Prior to the 12:30pm shotgun start, an official dedication ceremony will commence at 11.00 am with the reading of the “Diggers Shovel”, the Last Post and Reveille. 
 
Click here for the Entry Form.  All entries are to be returned to the Golf Shop with payment.  All categories of membership and guests are eligible to play, provided you have served in the armed forces.  Entries are filling up fast and last year’s this event sold out, so get in quick to avoid missing out.

Men's Club Championship Presentation & Dinner

The Men’s Club Championship presentation will be held during the Men’s Club Dinner on Saturday 18 October. The evening will feature special guest Greg Hearmon, PGA Tour and LIV Golf caddy, currently on the bag for Louis Oosthuizen. Originally from South Africa and now residing in Perth, Greg will share stories from the bag and open to the room for a Q&A session.

We encourage all Members who participated or supported the Men’s Pennant teams, Men’s Club Championship participants, especially those who qualified for the match play and their caddies as well as all other male Members to attend.

To assist us with our planning, delivery and ultimately your experience, you must make a booking in advance. Please do not just show up expecting to secure a table without a reservation. There are multiple ways to book your dining experience:

1. RECEPTION/OFFICE: You can contact the reception/office by phone on 9349 1988 (Ext 5) or in person during normal business hours, Monday through Friday or by email to admin@wagolfclub.com.au.

2. ONLINE: You can book a table through the membership portal on the club website using your membership access.
